Rosé des Riceys 2020
The Rosé des Riceys 2020 by Élise Dechannes is a rare and distinctive wine, produced under one of only three French AOC appellations exclusively dedicated to still rosé wines. Made from 100% Pinot Noir, it comes from estate-owned vineyards located in the renowned village of Les Riceys, in the Côte des Bar. Here, the marl-limestone soils and the sunny exposure of the plots favour optimal ripening, endowing the wine with both structure and complexity.
Vinification and maturation take place in fût de chêne, following traditional methods that enhance the terroir’s expressiveness. A brief maceration on the skins allows for a precise extraction of colour and aromas, while ageing on fine lees contributes to a refined aromatic texture. Bottling occurred in July 2021, with only 754 bottles produced, underscoring the wine’s artisanal nature and exclusivity.
On the nose, Rosé des Riceys 2020 reveals notes of ripe red berries, rosehip, orange peel, and delicate spicy and woody nuances that evolve beautifully in the bottle. On the palate, the wine displays elegance and minerality, with a taut body, vibrant salinity, and a persistent finish marked by a subtle smoky note.
