Rosé des Riceys 2022
The Rosé des Riceys by Elise Dechannes is a rare and deeply distinctive wine, an expression of one of France’s most precious and least known appellations, dedicated exclusively to still rosé and tied solely to the village of Les Riceys, at the southernmost tip of the Côte des Bar. The grapes come from family-owned vineyards rooted in Kimmeridgian soils of marl and limestone, on parcels with generous sun exposure, where the vigneronne carries out careful and respectful work that encourages full ripeness and faithfully conveys the character of this unique land.
This edition, from the 2022 harvest, comes from a bright and generous Vintage that brought healthy, fully ripe grapes to the cellar, made exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes crafted according to the traditional method of the appellation. A brief maceration on the skins, carried out with great restraint, extracts colour and aromas without weighing the wine down, while vinification and maturation take place in oak barrels, with ageing on the fine lees that refines the texture and enriches its aromatic complexity. Bottling took place in July 2024, crowning a patient, artisanal process.
On tasting, the Rosé des Riceys 2022 reveals an intense and layered nose, where notes of ripe red fruits, rosehip and orange peel intertwine with delicate spicy hints and a well-integrated oaky touch, set to broaden as it evolves in bottle. On the palate it shows elegance and depth, supported by a taut structure and vibrant sapidity that finds balance in the juiciness of the fruit, carrying the wine through to a long, persistent finish marked by a subtle smoky note. Production in a limited run of 1,402 bottles.
