Champagne Elise Dechannes
Rosé
The Champagne Rosé by Elise Dechannes is the most intimate portrait of Les Riceys, a village at the southernmost tip of the Côte des Bar where Kimmeridgian soils, rich in limestone and tiny marine fossils, give Pinot Noir a deep and luminous voice. The grapes come from a single parcel located in Nogent, the vineyard dearest to the vigneronne and the first to be freed from all synthetic products back in 2017, which has since become the model for the conversion of all the others and the symbol of a Vivant certified philosophy, inspired by respect for the life of the soil and the pursuit of a sincere expression of terroir.
This edition, from the 2022 harvest, comes from a sunny and generous Vintage that brought healthy, fully ripe grapes to the cellar, crafted exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes using the saignée method, with a brief maceration on the skins that gives the wine colour, structure and aromatic intensity. Vinification and maturation take place partly in oak barrels and partly in stainless steel tanks, combining depth and precision, while after the tirage comes a period of ageing on the lees of around 15 months. No final dosage is added, in the Brut Nature style, a choice that lets the fruit and the minerality of the terroir speak with transparency.
On tasting, this Rosé shows a deep pink colour with copper highlights and a fine, steady perlage, which accompanies a broad, vinous nose where ripe strawberry, cherry and pomegranate intertwine with hints of blood orange, sweet spices and a delicate toasty touch, over a chalky background of limestone origin. On the palate the entry is full and enveloping, supported by an important structure and a very fine tannic texture that finds balance in a vibrant freshness, while the absence of dosage enhances the purity of the fruit and a clear salinity that leads to a long, mineral and highly persistent finish. Production in a limited run of 3,179 bottles.
