Caudalies Millésime 2010
The Champagne Caudalies Millésime 2010 by De Sousa is a Blanc de Blancs of remarkable elegance, crafted exclusively from Chardonnay sourced from old vines over 50 years of age, located in the prestigious Grand Cru villages of Avize, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Cramant, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. The deep roots in the chalky soils endow the wine with vibrant minerality and crystalline elegance.
Vinification takes place entirely in 225-litre oak barrels, about 15% of which are new, with 10 months of ageing that enhances the wine’s structure and aromatic complexity. After tirage, the wine matures on the lees for a minimum of 8 years, developing depth and harmony. The final dosage, under 3 g/l, in Extra Brut style, preserves freshness and precision.
On the palate, Caudalies Millésime 2010 shows a very fine mousse, vibrant acidity, and a creamy, enveloping body. Flavours of ripe pear, lemon zest, and toasted almond mingle with a pronounced saline sapidity. The bouquet is broad and refined, with notes of peach, apricot, and quince, enriched by nuances of honey, brioche, and delicate sweet spices. The skilful use of oak and the age of the vines impart an aromatic profile of rare intensity and finesse, perfectly balancing richness and freshness.
