Champagne De Sousa
Caudalies
The Champagne Caudalies by De Sousa is a Blanc de Blancs crafted exclusively from Chardonnay sourced from old vines over 50 years of age, located in the prestigious Grand Cru villages of Avize, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Cramant in the CĂ´te des Blancs. The deep roots in the chalky soils impart a vibrant minerality and crystalline elegance, an authentic expression of the terroir.
Vinification takes place entirely in 225-liter oak barrels, a portion of which are new, with an aging period of about 10 months that enhances the wine’s structure and aromatic complexity. The blend includes around 50% of Réserve Perpétuelle aged in wood, providing depth and stylistic continuity. After bottling for the secondary fermentation, the wine matures on the lees for a minimum of 5 years, developing harmony and persistence. The low dosage, in Extra Brut style, preserves freshness and precision.
On the palate, Caudalies displays an extremely fine and consistent mousse; the nose reveals ripe citrus fruit, white flowers, toasted hazelnut, and delicate hints of brioche. The palate is creamy, supported by incisive freshness and a saline minerality that accompanies a long, elegant finish.
