The Champagne Château d’Avize by Leclerc-Briant originates in Avize, an iconic Grand Cru village of the Côte des Blancs, and represents the parcel-based expression of a single 2.13-hectare vineyard planted entirely with Chardonnay. This rare Blanc de Blancs takes shape through a sensitive dialogue between the region’s chalky soils and the luminous conditions of a particularly favorable summer, translating with consistency the Domaine’s vision, rooted in organic and biodynamic viticulture, respect for natural balance, and a transparent reading of the terroir, with the aim of privileging expressive precision, depth, and stylistic continuity.
This Millésime 2015 edition is vinified and matured predominantly in oak barrels, a choice that supports the wine’s substance without overshadowing its territorial definition. The vintage, marked by an ideal balance between grape ripeness and wine freshness, allows the power and structure of the Grand Cru to emerge with clarity. After bottling, the wine continues with over nine years of lees ageing, a journey that enhances complexity, integration, and aromatic depth. The low final dosage of 2.3 g/l, Extra Brut, is applied with restraint, allowing the wine’s substance and sense of place to stand out with precision.
In tasting, Château d’Avize 2015 shows a bright, luminous colour. The aromatic profile opens with notes of toasted hazelnut and coconut, accompanied by elegant evolved nuances. On the palate, it is full-bodied and fruity, supported by a well-integrated chalky minerality that carries the wine through its development, while the long finish confirms balance, depth, and expressive continuity.
