Rosé ADN de Meunier

The Champagne Rosé ADN de Meunier by Christophe Mignon precisely expresses the identity of Meunier in the Vallée de la Marne through an artisanal cuvée that reflects the vigneron’s meticulous work. The vineyards of Festigny and Le Breuil, planted on clay-silt-limestone soils with southern and south-western exposure, have an average age of 48 years and are farmed according to “alternative” practices guided by the lunar calendar, enhancing natural balance and soil vitality.

This edition, 2020 harvest, is vinified separately for each terroir in enamel-lined steel tanks, with a 5-month period on the lees before blending with 12–14% estate-produced Meunier vin rouge. Malolactic fermentation is not carried out in order to preserve freshness and tension. After tirage, the wine ages on the lees for at least 48 months, with disgorgement performed according to the lunar calendar. The final dosage of 2–4 g/l, in Extra Brut style, helps define a precise and linear profile.

On tasting, Rosé ADN de Meunier shows a deep pink color with a fine and persistent perlage. The nose is broad and fruity, with notes of lychee, raspberry and candied cherry. On the palate, it reveals a vibrant and savory structure, marked by hints of blood orange and lightly stewed strawberries, leading to a silky, elegant and persistent finish.

Christophe Mignon

Christophe Mignon comes from a long family tradition as vignerons in Festigny. His property consists of 7 hectares, mostly planted with Meunier - the most suitable vine for the local terroir. Mignon is able to mix different natural practices, such as biodynamics, phytotherapy, homeopathy and geobiology. Christophe and his wife Laurence have been following moon cycles for over 20 years, defetmining the rhythm in the fields and in the cave.

He explains his philosophy as follows: "To a vigneron moon is like a metronome to a musician". He is still looking for a symphony between the root and the environment, so Mignon employs one worker for every hectare. This is an ambitious and expensive method to protect low production but high quality.
