Bulles de Comptoir #14 "Pirouette Cacahuète"
The Champagne Bulles de Comptoir by Charles Dufour tells the free and sincere vision of a vigneron who chose the path of organic farming from the very beginning, leaving every conventional shortcut behind to give voice to his own vineyards in Landreville, in the Côte des Bars. In this land of Kimmeridgian clay and limestone, where Champagne looks towards Burgundy, each cuvée takes shape from the desire to express the character of place and year with authenticity, free of any artifice.
This edition #14 "Pirouette Cacahuète", based on the 2023 harvest, shows a prevalence of Pinot Noir at 60%, alongside 30% Chardonnay and 10% Pinot Blanc, one of the region's Cépages Oubliés, and is enriched by 35% réserve perpétuelle holding vintages from 1982 to 2022. After tirage comes ageing on the lees of at least eighteen months, while the final dosage, in Extra Brut style, rigorously preserves the clarity of the fruit and the transparency of the terroir.
On tasting, Bulles de Comptoir #14 stands out for its liveliness and a harmonious balance of tension, substance and freshness, with a fine, creamy perlage and an aromatic weave that combines crisp fruit, citrus notes and deeper nuances brought by the réserve perpétuelle. On the palate it unfolds with energy and precision, supported by vibrant acidity and a nimble structure that leads to a savoury finish of remarkable persistence and distinct personality.
