The Champagne Françoise² FF.10 by Charles Dufour embodies one of the most authentic expressions of the Côte des Bar, revealing the deep bond between the vigneron and the terroir of Chervey, in the Vallée de l’Arce. After an initial, more traditional phase, Dufour wholeheartedly embraced organic farming, gradually shaping a personal, direct style free from superfluous artifice. Some cuvées, like this one, come from vineyards tended by his mother, Françoise Martinot, a central figure in the project whose name appears proudly on the label.
This FF.10 edition, with a 2010 base vintage, is a Blanc de Noirs made from Pinot Noir sourced from a single parcel rooted in clay-limestone soils. Vinification includes around one year of maturation in wooden vats, followed by an extended 11-year ageing on the lees. The dosage-free disgorgement, in Brut Nature style, offers a rigorous and transparent reading of the wine, fully aligned with the vigneron’s essential philosophy.
On tasting, Françoise² FF.10 shows a deep golden colour and an extremely fine mousse. The aromatic profile is deep and evolved, unfolding complex nuances that balance maturity, finesse and expressive precision. On the palate, balance is built on structure, tension and persistence, leading to a long, harmonious finish of marked personality.
