Implicite Millésime 2018

The Champagne Implicite by Charles de Non-Dits conceals an unusual choice behind its name, no name, no face, only the wine. Conceived as a tribute to a friend taken too soon, it is a gesture shared by three vignerons who choose to set aside their own signature to leave the stage to the terroir, each bringing the parcel they hold dearest and the grape variety that best tells the story of their area. Three pillars of Champagne, the Chardonnay by Guillaume Doyard from the Côte des Blancs, the Pinot Noir by Huré Frères from the northern Montagne de Reims and the Meunier by Jean-Marc Sélèque from the Coteaux Sud d'Épernay, thus converge into the portrait of a territory in balance.

This edition, Vintage 2018, brings together in strictly equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Meunier, one third each, translating the symmetry of the project. Each vigneron vinifies their own portion at their own Domaine in wooden barrels, allowing it to mature for around eight months on the lees before the assemblage. After tirage, the wine ages on the lees for a minimum of five years in the cellars of Huré Frères, where the prise de mousse takes place under a natural cork stopper. The final dosage of 1.5 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, preserves its tension.

On the palate, Implicite 2018 reveals itself as fleshy and ripe, able to hold together substance and finesse. It opens on sweet apple and citrus notes, accompanied by a saline relief and hints of cereals, nuts and a touch of menthol. The bubble, soft and well-poised, sustains an enveloping texture, while the balance between the three components brings breadth and a precise, deep persistence in which each voice finds its own space without ever overshadowing the others.
