The Champagne 4 Cépages 2014 by Fleury is the result of a rare and original blend, created to express the viticultural biodiversity of the Côte des Bar. This vintage cuvée highlights four historic varieties: Pinot Noir (58%), Chardonnay(25%), Pinot Blanc (12%) and Pinot Gris (5%), from vines often over 30 years old. Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris belong to the so-called cépages oubliés of Champagne, ancient and now uncommon grapes, revived to offer an authentic and innovative interpretation of the terroir.

Vinification follows the principles of biodynamics, rigorously applied both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel vats and partly in fût de chêne, with full malolactic fermentation and no added sulfites. After the tirage, the wine matures for over 9 years on the lees before being released with no dosage (Brut Nature), achieving a perfect balance between freshness and complexity.

On the palate, 4 Cépages 2014 reveals a complex and layered profile: the nose opens with notes of white-fleshed fruit, ripe citrus, dried flowers and subtle spicy nuances. The palate shows structure and depth, with a tense, mineral finish that underscores the purity of the Fleury style.

Fleury

The Domaine Fleury, founded in 1895 in Courteron in the Côte des Bar, is one of the most historic and innovative estates in southern Champagne. Today run by the fourth generation, the family has made biodynamics its guiding philosophy, first adopted in 1989 thanks to Jean-Pierre Fleury, the very first Champagne grower to convert his vineyard to this nature- and terroir-respectful approach.

The vineyard covers around 15 hectares, with plantings dominated by Pinot Noir (85%), complemented by Chardonnay (10%) and by the so-called cépages oubliés such as Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, along with a small share of Meunier. Some vines date back to 1970, rooted in Kimmeridgian clay-limestone soils that bring tension, depth and a distinctive mineral character to the wines.

Today, the family carries on a tradition of research and innovation, while remaining deeply committed to the terroir and biodiversity. Thanks to the dedication of Morgane, Jean-Sébastien and Benoît, the Domaine has become a benchmark for biodynamic grower Champagnes, combining authenticity, elegance and a strong territorial identity.
