The Champagne Particules Noires by Waris-Larmandier is rooted in a search for the purest expression of the Aÿ Grand Cru terroir, one of Champagne’s most renowned villages for Pinot Noir. This Blanc de Noirs reflects the vision of the Waris brothers through an approach inspired by the memory of historic vineyards and the living energy of the soil, aiming to reveal an essential and vibrant interpretation of the wine. The name “Particules Noires” evokes this deep connection with the chalk-rich terroir and the singular identity of Aÿ.
This edition, crafted exclusively from Pinot Noir grapes, highlights parcels marked by outcropping chalk soils and a pronounced mineral character, offering an intense and gastronomic interpretation of the variety built around balance and precision. Vinification and fermentation take place partly in wooden barrels, with spontaneous fermentations preserving authenticity and energy. After tirage, the wine spends several years ageing on the lees, gaining complexity and depth. The final dosage, in Extra Brut style, supports the wine without masking its natural tension, allowing purity of fruit and terroir expression to emerge clearly.
In tasting, Particules Noires reveals an ample and intense profile with notes of spices, ripe red berries, citrus and delicate toasted nuances. On the palate, it shows depth and structure, supported by precise freshness and a marked chalky minerality that carries through to a persistent, savoury and elegant finish.
