The Maillart family has been connected to viticulture since 1753, with documented roots dating back to 1553, when Pierre Maillart worked at the Abbey of Saint-Nicaise in Chamery. Today, Nicolas Maillart represents the ninth generation, continuing a clear vision: to faithfully express the potential of the terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, across Premier and Grand Cru villages. The vineyards, located mid-slope and composed of mature vines, are predominantly planted with Pinot Noir (around 75%), complemented by Chardonnay to bring balance, tension, and finesse.

Since 2009, the Domaine has strengthened its environmental commitment through concrete actions, including the installation of photovoltaic panels covering around 90% of its energy needs. This is supported by HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification and other recognitions for sustainable viticulture, reflecting a responsible and forward-thinking approach to vineyard management. The goal is to preserve soil balance while ensuring long-term quality and consistency.

In the cellar, the work focuses on respecting the character of the grapes through parcel-by-parcel vinification and a measured use of oak, also applied to the vin de réserve to enhance complexity and depth. A standout feature is a rare own-rooted (pied franc) parcel on sandy soils, planted with ungrafted Pinot Noir: replanted in 1973 using massal selection, it still produces high-quality fruit today. From this vineyard comes a unique Champagne, produced only in the finest vintages, offering a pure expression of the Domaine’s identity and its commitment to terroir-driven wines.
