The Champagne Cuis Millésime 2017 by Les Frères Mignon is a Blanc de Blancs sourced from a single vineyard located in Cuis, a Premier Cru village in the Côte des Blancs. Planted in 1974 using a massal selection of ancient Chardonnay vines, this parcel preserves a rare genetic heritage that gives the wine a complex and deeply distinctive aromatic profile. The 2017 vintage, marked by a dry end to the growing season, allowed for balanced ripening, enhancing the tension and mineral verticality typical of the terroir.
Vinification takes place entirely in stainless steel, to highlight the varietal purity and the soil’s expressive clarity. The wine is aged on the lees for 48 months, gaining depth and structure, while the minimal dosage of 1.6 g/l reflects the Extra Brut philosophy of brothers Florent and Julien. No fining or filtration: a deliberate choice in line with their essential and respectful approach to the raw material.
On the palate, Cuis Millésime 2017 impresses with a precise and elegant aromatic profile, offering notes of citrus, white flowers, fresh almond, and chalk, complemented by hints of crisp white fruit and saline nuances. The mouthfeel is taut, sculpted, and vibrant, leading to a long, crystalline finish that faithfully mirrors the vineyard’s chalky character.
