Champagne Pascal Doquet
Cœur de Terroir "Le Mesnil sur Oger" 2012
The Champagne Cœur de Terroir “Le Mesnil-sur-Oger” by Pascal Doquet takes shape in the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, from five Lieux-dits – Les Chétillons, Le Champ d’Alouettes, Les Coullemets du Midi, Les Finciarts and Les Migraines – each expressing different nuances of the same extraordinary terroir. In this sector of the Côte des Blancs, chalk intertwines with marine flint, sands and limestone stones from an ancient riverbed, giving rise to Chardonnay marked by incisive verticality and a clear saline imprint. This cuvée was created to offer a faithful, parcel-driven interpretation of Le Mesnil, highlighting its rigor, depth and expressive precision.
This edition, Millésime 2012, is crafted from Chardonnay grapes harvested at full ripeness in a vintage defined by remarkable balance between concentration and freshness. Vinification and maturation take place entirely in oak barrels with indigenous yeasts, including full malolactic fermentation, a choice that broadens the texture and harmonizes the structure without sacrificing tension. After bottling, the wine ages on its lees for over 10 years, developing complexity and aromatic layering. The final dosage of 3.5 g/l, Extra Brut, underscores its stylistic transparency, allowing the character of the vintage and the identity of the cru to emerge with clarity.
On the palate, “Le Mesnil-sur-Oger” 2012 reveals refined aromas of ripe citrus, lemon zest, white flowers and delicate toasty nuances, accompanied by hints of flint and chalk. It shows structure and depth, supported by vibrant acidity and a pronounced mineral backbone. The finish is long and precise, with a rigorous balance between breadth and tension that confirms the stature and elegance of this Grand Cru.
