Champagne Leclerc Briant
Blanc de Blancs Millésime 2019
The Champagne Blanc de Blancs by Leclerc Briant is a Millésime born entirely from Chardonnay grapes, harvested from terroirs of excellence that dialogue with one another, from the Grand Cru of Cramant to the Premiers Crus of Avenay Val d'Or, Vertus, Romery and Villers-Marmery. Old vines cultivated according to the principles of organic and biodynamic farming, in the deepest respect for the vitality of the soil, allow the minerality of the chalk to emerge without filters, giving life to a wine of rare purity, tension and expressive elegance.
This edition, Vintage 2019, tells the story of a year marked by climatic challenges yet capable of delivering grapes of splendid ripeness and finesse. Vinification and maturation involve partial ageing in wood, in keeping with the Domaine's non-interventionist style, while after tirage comes an ageing on the lees for a minimum of 6 years that develops its depth and complexity. The final dosage of 2.2 g/l, in Extra Brut style, keeps the wine's verticality and natural freshness perfectly intact.
On tasting, this Blanc de Blancs 2019 reveals a straw-yellow robe with greenish reflections, foreshadowing a crisp, precise aromatic profile in which fresh pear, Meyer lemon and delicate notes of white flowers intertwine with mineral suggestions of flint. On the palate it shows itself concentrated and savoury yet of great lightness, supported by a salinity that amplifies its depth and by a vibrant acidity, leading to a long, pure finish of rare mineral coherence.
