Champagne Henriot
Blanc Souverain
The Champagne Blanc Souverain by Henriot holds the legacy of a meeting, the 1880 marriage of Paul Henriot and Marie Marguet, which brought the family the Grands Crus from the CĂ´te des Blancs and with them Chardonnay, destined to become the luminous signature of this Blanc de Blancs. The wine pays tribute to that turning point by following the blending idea traced by Apolline Henriot in 1808, a principle that gathers every Chardonnay vineyard of the Maison and tells its story across different harvests.
This edition, from the 2018 harvest, is completed by 20% of vin de réserve and brings together twelve crus made entirely from Chardonnay grapes coming mainly from the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. Vinification and maturation preserve the definition of each cru, whose proportions vary from one year to the next, and after tirage comes an ageing on the lees of at least three years, while the low final dosage of 3.5 g/l seals its balance.
On tasting, Blanc Souverain and its pale gold hue introduce a nose of great generosity, opening on flambéed pineapple and fresh citrus before widening towards wet chalk and the delicate pastry shades that speak of its complexity. On the palate the texture reveals a velvety fullness of rare smoothness, supported by an extraordinary freshness that holds exuberance and elegance together and carries a broad, precise and long-lasting finish.
