Beaunay Rouge "Les Hautes Sources Souris" 2022
The Coteaux Champenois Beaunay Rouge «Les Hautes Sources Souris» by Oudiette is a refined red made solely from Pinot Noir grapes, grown in a vineyard planted in 1990 in the surroundings of the village of Beaunay. This terroir stands out for its distinctive soil, formed by a surface layer of brown clay over a chalky base and enhanced by a south-facing exposure, able to give the wine a vibrant minerality, a captivating tension and remarkable aromatic complexity.
This edition, an expression of the 2022 harvest, is born from a five-day cold maceration followed by thirteen days of warm maceration, a process designed to draw out with precision and balance all the quality and natural finesse of Pinot Noir. The wine then rests for about eleven months in oak barrels, which develop a harmonious and complex bouquet, before bottling in December 2023 in a limited run of 960 bottles.
On tasting, «Les Hautes Sources Souris» reveals great fruity expressiveness, with a profile that weaves ripe flesh and vibrant mineral freshness along a broad, deep and finely calibrated development in every nuance. On the palate it shows an elegant structure and polished tannins, sustained by a saline depth and a long, enveloping persistence that confirms the subtle finesse and the marked expressive and territorial identity of this rare red wine.
