Rosé Experience
The Champagne Rosé Expérience by André Jacquart belongs to that small family of rosés that choose the path of maceration, a Rosé de Saignée giving up the convenience of assembling with red wine in order to draw colour and substance straight from the skins. The inspiration comes from the two faces of the Côte des Blancs, the Premier Cru of Vertus and the Grand Cru of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, where chalk traces a taut profile that here finds a fleshier and unexpected counterpoint.
This edition, bringing together 95% Pinot Noir grapes and 5% Chardonnay, draws colour and substance from a maceration on the skins that precedes pressing and defines its hue, texture and greater depth of flavour. Vinification and fermentation take place in barrique and, after tirage, comes an ageing on the lees of around five years that broadens complexity before the dégorgement, while the final dosage of 4 g/l, in Extra Brut style, keeps the profile dry and defined.
On tasting, Rosé Expérience shows a bright coppery robe crossed by a fine and delicate bubble, while the nose moves through continual changes of register between fresh red fruit, citrus echoes, woody nuances, pastry notes and a lightly oxidative touch. On the palate the freshness surprises for its clarity and merges with a savouriness of mineral character that lengthens the wine, in a broad, persistent and highly drinkable finish.
