Zéro Dosage Millésime 2011
The Champagne Zéro Dosage Millésime by André Jacquart draws its origins from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, a Grand Cru of the Côte des Blancs where chalk lies just a few centimetres below the surface and gives Chardonnay the saline tension that made the village famous. A Blanc de Blancs born from old vines of more than fifty years, deeply rooted and tended with artisanal care, the expression of a purity that lets the terroir tell its own story without mediation.
This edition, Vintage 2011, marked by a varied growing season that nonetheless favoured the ripening of Chardonnay, yielded healthy, concentrated and highly expressive grapes. Vinification and maturation take place in barrique for around nine months and, after tirage, comes an ageing on the lees of at least seven years that broadens complexity and aromatic depth before a dégorgement that leaves the wine with no final dosage, in Brut Nature style.
On tasting, Zéro Dosage Millésime 2011 shows a bright golden hue crossed by a fine and persistent perlage, before opening on pure scents of ripe citrus, fresh almond and delicate hints of bread crust. On the palate it is incisive and linear, supported by an acidity that never loses definition, with a marked mineral texture, great precision and a long, saline finish that remains an authentic expression of the character of the Côte des Blancs.
