The Champagne Cola Robin 2018 from Domaine Piollot is conceived as a tribute to Pinot Blanc, one of Champagne’s Cépages Oubliés, preserved thanks to the dedication of Robert Piollot, a key figure in safeguarding this historic grape variety. The cuvée comes from a 65-year-old vineyard, south-facing and located in Polisot, in the Côte des Bar, where the Kimmeridgian soil imparts mineral tension and a marked sense of place. The advanced age of the vines lends the wine concentration, complexity, and a distinctive identity that makes this interpretation of Pinot Blanc a rarity of great character.

This 2018 Millésime is crafted through a vinification that combines stainless steel (80%) and fût de chêne (20%), enhancing both the varietal purity and the intrinsic structure of Pinot Blanc. Malolactic fermentation is completed; after tirage, the wine undergoes a long ageing of at least five years on its lees, gaining depth and finesse. At disgorgement, it is released with no dosage, as a Brut Nature, to express the authentic character of both the parcel and the grape variety.

On the palate, Cola Robin 2018 opens with notes of ripe citrus, quince, white flowers, and a pronounced chalky signature typical of Kimmeridgian soils. The palate is clean and vertical, defined by incisive saline tension and a generous yet taut texture. The structure is balanced, supported by a fine, well-integrated mousse; the finish is long, shaped by hints of aromatic herbs, minerality, and delicate nuances of dried fruit.
