Champagne Pertois-Moriset
Les Hauts Mottes 2016
The Champagne Les Hautes Mottes 2016 by Pertois-Moriset originates from a rigorous selection of Chardonnay from vines located in the Grand Cru of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the CĂ´te des Blancs. The grapes come from two parcels less than one hundred meters apart, situated at the foot of the hillside and facing east. The soils, characterized by poor calcareous terrain with very compact chalk and weak roots, define a severe environment that encourages low yields, high concentration, and a distinctly mineral profile. The average age of the vines is 16 years.
This edition, Millésime 2016, involves vinification and maturation for 80% in stainless steel tanks and 20% in fût de chêne, with the aim of preserving tension, purity, and finesse, enriched by a slight controlled oxidative complexity. After tirage, the wine ages on the lees for a minimum period of 48 months. The final dosage, calibrated at 1.5 g/l in Extra Brut style, is designed to enhance expressive transparency and territorial identity.
In tasting, Les Hautes Mottes 2016 appears precise and luminous, with notes of ripe citrus, white flowers, compact chalk, and delicate hints of dried fruit. On the palate, it reveals verticality and great purity, supported by a fine texture and intense saline minerality, a direct expression of the chalky terroir of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The balance between energy, finesse, and depth is impeccable, while the long, crystalline persistence confirms the elegant and rigorous style of Maison Pertois-Moriset.
Production is extremely limited: only 1,922 bottles and 120 magnums.
