Le Petit Clos 2011
The Champagne Le Petit Clos 2011 by Jean Vesselle is a rare and authentic masterpiece that takes shape in a tiny walled plot of just 0.08 hectares, tucked away in the Grand Cru of Bouzy, one of the most celebrated villages of the Montagne de Reims. Within these ancient walls, old vines of over seventy years translate with absolute sincerity the character of one of the most prestigious terroirs in Champagne, in an expression as rare as it is deeply faithful to its place of origin.
This edition, Vintage 2011, is born from the sole interpretation of Pinot Noir and reveals itself as a Blanc de Noirs of rare depth, shaped by a vinification and maturation carried out with an artisanal approach in full respect of the fruit. This is followed by a long ageing on the lees of around 12 years, while the final dosage, below 3 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, enhances its technical precision and the expressive transparency of the fruit.
On tasting, Le Petit Clos 2011 offers an elegant golden colour with luminous reflections and a very fine, persistent perlage, while the bouquet unfolds into intense aromas of dried fruit, candied citrus, bread crust and delicate smoky hints. On the palate it shows itself broad, full and velvety, supported by a solid structure and a vibrant freshness that accompany a long and refined mineral persistence, a true seal of a quality that is well out of the ordinary. Production in a limited run of 805 bottles and 139 magnums.
