CĹ“ur de Terroir "Vertus" 2012
The Champagne CĹ“ur de Terroir "Vertus" 2012 by Pascal Doquet is a Blanc de Blancs of rare expressiveness, crafted from Chardonnay grapes sourced from five carefully selected Lieux-Dits within the Premier Cru of Vertus: "Bamilliers", "Nuisats", "La Robe", "Les Grues", and "La Vieille Voie". These parcels, located in the historic heart of the terroir, are farmed with environmental respect, focusing on full ripeness and enhancing the identity of the soil.
The 2012 harvest, picked at full maturity, was vinified in fût de chêne with spontaneous fermentations driven by indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation was completed, contributing to a creamy and enveloping structure. After tirage, the wine aged for over 10 years on the lees in the Maison’s chalk cellars. The restrained dosage of 3 g/l, in Extra Brut style, emphasizes the wine’s essential character.
On the palate, Vertus 2012 stands out for its purity and complexity. The bouquet opens with ripe fruit, citrus hints, subtle toasty notes, and a clear mineral imprint. The mouthfeel is vibrant, refined, and persistent, supported by an elegant texture that faithfully reflects the character of the terroir.
