The Champagne Jolivettes 2020 by Nicolas Maillart is the fruit of 100% Pinot Noir planted by mass selection in 1987 in Lieu-Dit Les Jovilettes in the village of Bouzy, classified as Grand Cru. This rare Champagne owes its special scents to the Campaniano chalk. Respect for the rhythms of the vines, work of the soil with biological and biodynamic treatments, but also, if necessary, more classic vinification exclusively in wooden barrels, make it a Millésime of Pinot Noir with truly exceptional characteristics. Not dosed Champagne Blanc de Noirs whose power is supported by a strong acidity, perfect the identity of this wonderful Terroir, in the heart of Bouzy!

Nicolas Maillart

The Maillart family has been connected to viticulture since 1753, with documented roots dating back to 1553, when Pierre Maillart worked at the Abbey of Saint-Nicaise in Chamery. Today, Nicolas Maillart represents the ninth generation, continuing a clear vision: to faithfully express the potential of the terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, across Premier and Grand Cru villages. The vineyards, located mid-slope and composed of mature vines, are predominantly planted with Pinot Noir (around 75%), complemented by Chardonnay to bring balance, tension, and finesse.

Since 2009, the Domaine has strengthened its environmental commitment through concrete actions, including the installation of photovoltaic panels covering around 90% of its energy needs. This is supported by HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification and other recognitions for sustainable viticulture, reflecting a responsible and forward-thinking approach to vineyard management. The goal is to preserve soil balance while ensuring long-term quality and consistency.

In the cellar, the work focuses on respecting the character of the grapes through parcel-by-parcel vinification and a measured use of oak, also applied to the vin de réserve to enhance complexity and depth. A standout feature is a rare own-rooted (pied franc) parcel on sandy soils, planted with ungrafted Pinot Noir: replanted in 1973 using massal selection, it still produces high-quality fruit today. From this vineyard comes a unique Champagne, produced only in the finest vintages, offering a pure expression of the Domaine’s identity and its commitment to terroir-driven wines.
