Champagne Cazé-Thibaut
Les Leriens 2020
The Champagne Les Leriens by Cazé-Thibaut takes shape near Châtillon-sur-Marne, on the Rive Droite of the Vallée de la Marne, from a single parcel (lieu-dit) where Meunier, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir coexist in a precise balance. The vines, planted from 1969 through massal selection on clay-limestone and chalky soils with south-east exposure, allow for a simultaneous harvest and vinification, delivering a faithful and coherent expression of the terroir.
This edition, Vintage 2020, is vinified and fermented in oak barrels, with maturation continuing in the same vessels, contributing to structure and depth without weighing down the profile. After bottling, the wine ages on its lees for at least 40 months, while the dégorgement without final dosage, in Brut Nature style, guides the wine toward a pure and focused expression.
In tasting, Les Leriens 2020 reveals a savory and enveloping profile, driven by a vibrant tension that sustains its progression. Notes of flint, citrus peel and toasted hazelnut emerge, followed by more evolved hints of salted butter, bread crust and dried fruit. On the palate the structure is straight and incisive, supported by a saline backbone that leads to a long and reflective finish. Production in a limited run of 1,750 bottles.
