Champagne Marie Courtin
Manigance 2020
The Champagne Manigance 2020 by Marie-Courtin is a cuvée of remarkable expressive purity, made from a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Blanc, grown according to biodynamic principles. The grapes come from a single 2.5-hectare vineyard located in Polisot, in the Côte des Bar, on Kimmeridgian soils with east/southeast exposure. The vines, propagated through massal selection, preserve intra-varietal genetic variability and reinforce a deep connection with the terroir, imprinting the wine with a strong and distinctive identity.
The 2020 harvest was entirely vinified and aged in terracotta amphorae, a radical choice that enhances the artisanal essence and the integrity of the fruit. After tirage, the wine rests at least 36 months on the lees, before disgorgement with minimal dosage, in perfect Extra Brut style. The result is a Champagne that is both rigorous and luminous, faithfully interpreting the two grape varieties through the aesthetic of purity and silence envisioned by Dominique Moreau, a symbolic figure of Champagne purism.
On the palate, Manigance reveals a subtle and multifaceted aromatic profile: citrus infusions, candied lemon peel, white tea, unripe currant, and hints of freshly leavened dough. The taste is driven by a gentle energy and a silky texture, enriched by warm and spicy notes and a dark, earthy minerality. The Pinot Blanc brings volume and roundness, balancing the sharp tension of the Chardonnay in a cuvée that is coherent, vibrant, and luminous — a true expression of uncompromising biodynamic craftsmanship.
