Cuvée Trankill 2023
The Coteaux Champenois Blanc Trankill by Jérôme Lefèvre is a radical and unconventional expression of Meunier, vinified as a white wine from 100% Meunier grapes harvested in 2023 near Essômes-sur-Marne, in the Vallée de la Marne. After more than 10 months of ageing in barrique, the wine was bottled in August 2024 in a limited edition of just 1,600 bottles.
On tasting, from the very first impression, Trankill proves to be unexpected and surprising, with a nose that weaves together smoky notes, ripe peach, and hints of Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it reveals a vivid, layered substance, evoking rosemary, sea salt and a nearly tactile texture, culminating in a saline finish of rare persistence and character.
Stripped of any stylistic reference to classic Champenois tradition, this wine asserts itself through its autonomous identity and raw intensity. Trankill is an outsized experience, striking for its expressive power and authenticity.
