Les Carelles Millésime 2018
The Champagne Les Carelles Millésime by Leclerc-Briant originates in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, a landmark Grand Cru village of the Côte des Blancs, and represents a single-parcel expression of the eponymous lieu-dit Les Carelles, a micro-plot of approximately 0.22 hectares planted with Chardonnay. This Blanc de Blancs consistently reflects the Domaine’s vision, grounded in organic and biodynamic viticulture, respect for natural balance, and a transparent reading of terroir, privileging expressive precision, depth, and stylistic continuity.
This Millésime 2018 edition is vinified and matured entirely in oak barrels, a calibrated choice designed to support the structure of the variety without overshadowing the identity of the originating parcel. After tirage, the wine undergoes more than six years of ageing on the lees, a process that builds complexity, integration, and aromatic depth. The final Extra Brut dosage of 0.6 g/l is applied with restraint, allowing the material expression and territorial definition to emerge with clarity.
In tasting, Les Carelles Millésime 2018 shows a bright golden-yellow colour and a deep, composed aromatic profile, revealing notes of white pear, peach, fresh almond, jasmine, and subtle floral and spicy nuances. On the palate, the structure is broad yet taut, supported by well-integrated freshness and a chalky, saline minerality seamlessly woven into the wine’s texture. The finish is long and finely calibrated, with a precise balance between elegance, tension, and terroir definition.
