Les Chétillons 2018
The Champagne Les Chétillons by Pertois-Lebrun is a Blanc de Blancs from three Chardonnay parcels in the historic Chétillon (lieu-dit) of the Grand Cru village of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. More than 45 years ago, founder Paul Pertois planted the vines here that now give life to this cuvée with a strong sense of place.
This edition, Vintage 2018, is shaped by vinification and maturation in oak barrels, which give the wine depth, breadth and a finely layered aromatic complexity. After tirage it ages for at least seven years on its lees before dégorgement, while the final dosage of 1 g/l, in Extra Brut style, brings out its purity and precise expression.
On tasting, Les Chétillons 2018 shows a very fine, bright perlage and an elegant, intense nose where ripe citrus and white flowers mingle with hints of toasted hazelnut, fine pastry and a subtle chalky streak. On the palate it is vibrant and complex, carried by precise acidity and a vertical structure that opens onto a creamy texture, leading to a long finish with mineral and saline notes of remarkable clarity and depth. Production in a limited run of 1,293 bottles.
