Les Vignes d'Autrefois 2020
Champagne Les Vignes d’Autrefois by Laherte Frères is a Blanc de Noirs made from 100% Meunier, sourced from old vines planted between 1947 and 1964 in the village of Chavot, on the slopes of the Coteaux sud d’Épernay. These historic parcels, rooted in calcareous and silty-clay soils, preserve the living memory of the grape variety, expressing its most authentic identity in a masterful balance of textural depth and territorial freshness.
The 2020 harvest was vinified entirely in fût de chêne, using spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts and no filtration or fining. After tirage, the wine aged for over 30 months on the lees, with a final Extra Brut dosage between 2 and 4 g/l, enhancing the wine’s natural tension and the expressive clarity of the fruit. The artisanal touch of Aurélien Laherte is evident in a style that is both essential and profound, true to the spirit of traditional Meunier.
On the palate, Les Vignes d’Autrefois stands out for its vibrant energy, compact structure, and incisive minerality. The mouthfeel evolves with elegance and momentum, revealing notes of ripe red berries, delicate spice, and a persistent, saline finish that authentically reflects the deep connection between soil, time, and grape.
