Champagne Joseph Perrier
Le Ciergelot 2020
The Champagne Le Ciergelot 2020 by Joseph Perrier comes from a single parcel in the village of Verneuil, the historic ZD214, planted in 1969. Here, Meunier, often considered a lesser grape variety, finds one of its most authentic expressions, enhanced by a terroir of mid-slope clay-limestone soils. This edition is also part of an exclusive project launched in 2007, based on a strict principle: one vineyard, one grape, one vintage, one wine.
The 2020 vintage, marked by a cold winter, a cool spring and a hot summer, allowed the grapes to reach optimal ripeness. The vinification, overseen by Nathalie Laplaige, was carried out with utmost precision and completed with no final dosage (0 g/l Brut Nature), ensuring the purest expression of the fruit and the mineral character of the terroir.
On the palate, Le Ciergelot 2020 displays slightly pinkish reflections, typical of the Meunier skin. The bouquet opens with notes of red fruits and grenadine, evolving towards hints of violet and elegant nuances of eucalyptus. The attack is smooth and velvety, with a progression revealing aromas of yellow fruit, supported by a long, enveloping finish highlighted by delicate freshness. Production is extremely limited, with only 4,992 bottles and 224 magnums.
