Œnoteque Millésime 2014
The Champagne Œnothèque Millésime 2014 by Laherte Frères was conceived as an authentic expression of the Chavot terroir, crafted from an equal blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir sourced from two historic parcels. The Chardonnay comes from the “Les Chemins d’Épernay” vineyard, planted in 1957 on shallow clay-limestone soils, part of which is composed of rare massal selections of Chardonnay. The Pinot Noir originates from the “Les Rouges Maisons” parcel, planted in 1983 on soils rich in clay and flint fragments, lending depth and structure to the wine. This Œnothèque version offers a more evolved and introspective interpretation of the Les Empreintes cuvée, long cellared in the family’s historic chalk cellars.
This edition, Millésime 2014, undergoes traditional pressing followed by vinification and fermentation in barriques, without malolactic fermentation, a choice that preserves tension and aging potential. After bottling, the cuvée benefits from an extraordinarily extended lees aging of approximately 10 years, enhancing its complexity, depth, and aromatic layering. Disgorged à la volée, with a final dosage of 2 g/l in Extra Brut style, it highlights precision, energy, and expressive clarity.
On the palate, Empreintes Œnothèque 2014 reveals a broad and multidimensional texture, where its original freshness intertwines with refined tertiary nuances. Notes of candied citrus, dried fruit, sweet spices, flint, and delicate toasty hints unfold in harmonious progression. The structure is profound, supported by vibrant acidity and a crystalline minerality that leads to a long, saline, and persistent finish. A version of remarkable expressive maturity, amplifying the Laherte family’s identity-driven vision through time.
