The Champagne Cuvée Joséphine 2014 by Joseph Perrier celebrates the radiant revival of a legendary cuvée, created to pay tribute to the elegance and grace of the Maison on its path toward its bicentennial. First launched in 1982, Joséphine embodies the most artistic and feminine spirit of Joseph Perrier: a perfect synthesis of intensity, finesse, and refinement.
The 2014 vintage stands out for its extraordinary balance, the result of an atypical climate that enhanced the aromatic purity and stylistic precision of the Champagne. Marked by a mild, wet winter, an early spring, and a hot, dry summer, it allowed the grapes to reach ideal ripeness. A blend of 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, sourced from the terroirs of Ambonnay, Sacy, Cumières, Bergères-lès-Vertus, and Mesnil-sur-Oger, the wine was aged for at least eight years on the lees, revealing all the savoir-faire of cheffe de cave Nathalie Laplaige, who signs its balance between energy and grace. The dosage of 5 g/l completes a harmonious profile, supported by tension and depth.
On tasting, Cuvée Joséphine 2014 displays a bright golden yellow hue, remarkable for its luminosity and purity. The nose is subtle and refined, with notes of dried fruit and toasted hazelnut that anticipate an elegant and complex profile. On the palate, it opens with ripe pears and juicy white fruits, followed by floral nuances of lily of the valley and spicy, peppery touches. Its silky, vibrant texture, long finish, and aromatic finesse define a deep, enchanting, and memorable Champagne that encapsulates the most authentic and refined essence of the Joséphine style.
