Les Devoix Rouge 2019
The Coteaux Champenois Rouge Les Devoix by Domaine La Borderie is a rare still red wine that comes to life in the Côte des Bar, on the edge of the village of Merrey-sur-Arce, where Pinot Noir reveals an unusual and fascinating face of Champagne. It is born from a single plot of old vines planted in 1975, a precious testament to a patient viticulture and to a philosophy that celebrates the identity of the place and the most authentic, profound vocation of this exceptional terroir.
This edition, 2019 harvest, takes shape entirely from Pinot Noir grapes and involves a long maceration of around twelve days, followed by an ageing of about 10 months in 228-litre oak barrels before bottling, which took place in August 2020. A still red wine of great authenticity and finesse, able to convey with rare precision the character and distinctive personality of its plot of origin.
In tasting, Les Devoix 2019 shows a red colour of fine brightness and transparency, while the nose opens on an explosion of ripe red fruits, with morello cherry and raspberry to the fore, outlining a fragrant, crisp and particularly inviting profile. On the palate it is highly fruity, endowed with good concentration and remarkable length, with a relaxed and harmonious balance that carries a persistent, elegant finish of great expressive finesse. Production in a limited run of 1,100 bottles.
