Blanc Perpétuel "Assemblage N°23"

The Côteaux Champenois Blanc Perpétuel "Assemblage N°23" by J-M Sélèque is a rare still white wine that precisely interprets the Domaine’s artisanal vision, blending memory and contemporaneity in a limited-production project. It is crafted from a blend of 85% Chardonnay and 15% Petit Meslier, one of Champagne’s Cépages Oubliés, sourced from selected parcels located in Dizy (lieux-dits Crohaut and Moque Bouteille), Vertus (Faucherettes), and Épernay (Les Frileux). A mosaic of terroirs that brings together tension, depth, and identity, expressing the most authentic soul of contemporary Côteaux Champenois.

The grapes from the 2022 and 2023 vintages were vinified in 228-liter oak barrels, with the aim of guiding the wine’s evolution without overshadowing its varietal character. This was followed by 12 months of ageing in wood prior to bottling, which took place in July 2024. Production is extremely limited, with only 960 bottles released, underscoring the exclusive and parcel-driven nature of this edition.

On the palate, Blanc Perpétuel "Assemblage N°23" stands out for its elegance and precision. The aromatic profile alternates notes of ripe citrus, crisp apple, and white flowers with delicate herbal and mineral nuances. It reveals a sleek structure, fine texture, and vibrant freshness, supported by a savory backbone that leads to a long, dynamic, and harmonious finish, in perfect balance between energy and depth.

The story of Sélèque starts in 1965, when Henry Sélèque planted the first parcels with his step-father John Bagnost (President of the co-op Pierry). His passion for the vines led Richard, Henri and François' son to study and investigate enology and he later started to produce Champagne in 1974, increasing the annual production up to 50,000 in the 90s.

The third generation arrived in 2008, after Jean-Marc's period abroad: he joined the domaine and added his innovative and personal approach to develop Champagne. Nowadays the vineyards lie on a surface of 7.5 hectares over 7 villages in Vallée de la Marne and Côte des Blancs: Pierry, Moussy, Epernay, Mardeuil, Dizy, Vertus and Boursault.

The vines are 60% Chardonnay, 30% Meunier and 10% Pinot Noir. The viticulture preserves the balance and values the biodiversity and the terroir, resulting in authentic Champagnes.
