Cuvée n° 744 Dégorgement Tardif

The Champagne Cuvée n° 744 Dégorgement Tardif by Jacquesson represents the deepest and most contemplative version of one of the Maison's emblematic cuvées, a wine designed to reveal itself only after a very long rest in the cellar. An expression of the great tradition of the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs, it is born from selected plots in the Grand Cru and Premier Cru villages of Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers, Avize and Oiry, where artisanal dedication and respect for the terroir guide every choice towards absolute purity.

This edition n°744, built on the 2016 harvest, a warm and generous vintage enriched by around 30% vin de réserve, brings together in the blend 45% Chardonnay grapes, 35% Pinot Noir and 20% Meunier, with vinification and spontaneous fermentation in oak foudres and without any fining or filtering. After the tirage it undergoes an extraordinarily long maturation on the lees, in excess of eight years, while the final dosage of 2 g/l, in an Extra Brut style, heightens its essentiality and the transparency of the terroir.

On tasting, Cuvée n° 744 Dégorgement Tardif unveils a profile of great mineral energy and refined aromatic finesse, where notes of dried fruit, candied citrus, honey, fine pastry and flint intertwine. On the palate it stands out for a rich, enveloping yet ever-vibrant structure, supported by a chiselled acidity and an immensely long, deeply saline persistence, which confirms all the depth, complexity and precision achieved through the long rest on the lees.
