Avize - Champ Caïn 2014
The Champagne Avize - Champ Caïn 2014 by Jacquesson is a single-vineyard cuvée of extraordinary refinement, crafted from 100% Chardonnay sourced from a 1.30-hectare plot in the Grand Cru village of Avize, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs. Planted in 1962 on deeply chalky soils, the “Champ Caïn” parcel enjoys an ideal exposure that allows for the expression of a Chardonnay marked by vertical tension and sculpted elegance.
The 2014 harvest was entirely vinified and aged in fût de chêne, following the artisanal and non-interventionist philosophy that defines the Maison. After approximately 9 years of lees ageing, the Champagne was disgorged with no dosage (0 g/l, Extra Brut), highlighting the purest and most crystalline essence of its terroir. Production was extremely limited: 11,328 bottles and 406 magnums, underscoring its rarity and the meticulous attention devoted to every detail.
On the palate, Avize - Champ Caïn 2014 reveals a mineral and citrus-driven bouquet, with notes of chalk, lemon peel, white flowers and subtle toasted nuances. The mouthfeel is tense and deep, supported by vibrant salinity and exceptional persistence, delivering the authentic voice of a great Blanc de Blancs from the Grand Cru of Avize.
