Bas-Bauchets 2020
The Champagne Bas-Bauchets 2020 by Gamet is a single-parcel cuvée that expresses, with rare precision, the identity of a single lieu-dit, Bas-Bauchets, located on the right bank in Damery, within the Vallée de la Marne. This cuvée parcellaire comes from a single vintage and a single grape variety, Meunier, interpreted with artisanal sensitivity and a deeply territorial spirit.
Vinification and maturation take place in tonneaux for 10 months, with spontaneous fermentation carried out by indigenous yeasts, allowing the wine to gain both structure and complexity. After tirage, the wine undergoes 48 months of aging on its lees, which brings elegance, depth, and a finely layered aromatic profile. The dosage, kept to 1 g/l, defines an Extra Brut style that allows the wine to express, in perfect balance, the varietal richness of Meunier and the purity of the terroir.
On the palate, Bas-Bauchets 2020 opens with a broad and refined bouquet of ripe red fruits, toasted hazelnut, dried flowers, and hints of candied citrus peel. It is dense and tense, with an enveloping texture, vibrant freshness, and a mineral framework that extends the finish with chalky and spicy nuances. A Champagne of precision and depth, expressing with authenticity and vitality the truest soul of Meunier from Damery. Produced in a limited edition of only 1,631 bottles.
