Coteaux Champenois De Sousa
Rouge 2019
The Côteaux Champenois Rouge by De Sousa is made from 100% Pinot Noir from the 2019 harvest, grown in a single 70-year-old vineyard located near Ambonnay, a Grand Cru village in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. This rare parcel perfectly expresses the typicity of its terroir, thanks to low yields and the remarkable maturity of the vines.
Vinification involves a gentle maceration with pump-overs for 8 days, followed by about 12 months of ageing in fût de chêne before bottling in August 2020. Production is extremely limited, with only 300 bottles made, making this cuvée a rare and precious expression of the appellation.
On the palate, Côteaux Champenois Rouge reveals delicate aromas of ripe red fruits, floral nuances and subtle spicy notes. The taste is elegant, harmonious and refined, with ultra-fine tannins and a lingering finish of remarkable finesse.
