La Bretonne
The Champagne La Bretonne by C.H. Piconnet is a single-parcel cuvée of remarkable elegance and identity, part of the four editions of the new “Le Parcellaires” collection recently introduced by the Domaine. It originates from a single vineyard located in the lieu-dit “La Bretonne,” near Celles-sur-Ource, in the heart of the Côte des Bar. This label embodies the most authentic and terroir-driven expression of the Domaine, a young family estate working with artisanal rigor and deep respect for its land. Produced from 100% Pinot Noir, sourced from a sustainably farmed parcel, La Bretonne focuses entirely on varietal purity and on expressing the clay-limestone soils typical of the area.
This edition, vintage 2021, is crafted with precision and restraint: fermentation takes place in stainless steel to preserve fruit integrity, followed by at least 36 months of lees aging. The wine is released without final dosage, in Brut Nature style, enhancing freshness, verticality and mineral tension.
On the nose, La Bretonne shows a bright golden hue with a fine and persistent perlage. The bouquet is intense and well-defined, revealing notes of small red berries, dried flowers, sweet spices and a distinctive chalky touch, a clear reflection of its terroir. On the palate, it is structured and vertical, with a full yet precise texture supported by lively acidity and a long, clean and persistent finish.
La Bretonne is a Champagne of strong personality, produced in limited quantities: only 862 bottles and 54 Magnums. Ideal for those who appreciate single-parcel cuvées, the transparency of Pinot Noir and a faithful expression of place. A bottle that authentically conveys C.H. Piconnet’s vision: restraint, precision and a profound connection to the land.
