Champagne C.H. Piconnet
Les Val Mentra
The Champagne Les Val Mentra by C.H. Piconnet is a single-parcel cuvée of great expressiveness, part of the “Le Parcellaires” collection, which brings together the most identity-driven and terroir-focused selections from the young Domaine C.H. Piconnet, located in Celles-sur-Ource, in the heart of the Côte des Bar. Resulting from a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Blanc from the 2018 harvest, this Champagne originates from a single parcel cultivated sustainably in the Lieu-Dit “Les Val Mentra”, characterized by clay-limestone soils and a microclimate ideal for the full ripening of the grapes. The goal is to express, with precision and authenticity, the character of the vineyard, highlighting the purity of the grape varieties and the natural minerality of the soil.
Vinification takes place in stainless steel, to preserve freshness and aromatic definition. After tirage, the wine is aged at least 36 months on its lees and is released without final dosage – Brut Nature – to best convey the tension and transparency of the terroir.
Upon tasting, Les Val Mentra appears in the glass with a brilliant golden yellow color and a fine, continuous perlage. On the nose, it is precise and clean, with notes of red-fleshed fruit, peony, light spicy accents, and a mineral, chalky finish. On the palate, it is structured yet elegant, with vibrant acidity, excellent balance, and a long, clean, and persistent finish.
Produced in a limited release of only 1,041 bottles and 48 magnums, conceived for those who seek depth, precision, and an authentic connection to the vineyard in Champagne. A cuvée that perfectly embodies the sober, terroir-driven style of C.H. Piconnet.
