Mouille-Brant 2019
The Champagne Mouille-Brant by Etienne Sandrin comes to life from a single south-facing plot, set on the chalky slopes of Celles-sur-Ource in the heart of the CĂ´te des Bar, where Pinot Noir reaches one of its purest and most luminous expressions. Here the vigneron chooses to let the terroir speak without any mediation, with a biodynamic approach that returns intact the mineral identity of this Kimmeridgian soil, on which vines of around fifty years yield a material of rare finesse and precision.
This edition, Vintage 2019, undergoes a spontaneous vinification and fermentation carried out entirely in stainless steel tanks, a choice that preserves the transparency of the fruit while avoiding any oak patina, without resorting to any fining or filtration. After tirage comes a three-year ageing on its own lees, at the end of which the wine remains without final dosage, in a Brut Nature style, letting the character of the harvest and of the single plot that gives the wine its name emerge with absolute clarity.
On the palate, Mouille-Brant 2019 reveals a very fine and creamy perlage that accompanies a taut and deep palate, where the structure of Pinot Noir blends with a vibrant freshness sustained by the mineral backbone of the terroir. The balance plays on the tension between richness and vertical drive, with a long and intense persistence closing on a saline and finely spiced finish, the mark of a material that keeps great coherence from the attack through to the closing trail.
