Champagne Charles Heidsieck
La Collection Crayères Millésime 1982
La Collection Crayères Édition by Charles Heidsieck is an exclusive selection of vintage Champagnes drawn from the Maison’s private cellar, released in strictly limited quantities. Each bottle has matured for years on its lees within the historic chalk crayères—underground cellars that nurture the full aromatic and textural expression of the wines. With this collection, the House pays tribute to its heritage, unveiling the fruit of decades of savoir-faire. From the depths of these cellars emerge extraordinary cuvées, true witnesses to an art of blending that defies time with grace and precision. Every vintage stands out for its character and complexity, displaying refined structure and a distinctive aromatic signature. To discover La Collection Crayères is to embark on a journey through time in search of the purest and most luminous essence of Champagne Charles Heidsieck.
La Collection Crayères Millésime 1982 represents one of the rarest and most significant expressions in the history of Maison Charles Heidsieck—a vintage Champagne that captures, with remarkable intensity, the authentic spirit of Champagne in the 1980s. Born from a legendary year, the 1982 harvest is remembered as one of the greatest of the century: stable weather conditions, perfect ripening, and a generous yield produced grapes of exceptional quality, marked by finesse, balance, and aromatic depth.
The blend of 58% Pinot Noir and 42% Chardonnay, sourced from carefully selected parcels of the Montagne de Reims and Côte des Blancs, unites strength and refinement in a harmony of timeless classicism. The tirage in 1983, followed by six years of aging on the lees in the historic chalk crayères and over thirty additional years of post-disgorgement aging in the Maison’s cellars before its release in 2022, has shaped an aromatic texture of exceptional complexity and depth.
On the palate, La Collection Crayères Millésime 1982 reveals a deep golden hue with copper reflections. The bouquet opens with notes of mocha, roasted tones, and fine pastry, gradually unfolding candied citrus, caramelized ginger, and quince paste. The mouthfeel is powerful and creamy, layered with sweet spices—saffron and paprika—intertwined with honeyed nuances and delicate hints of orange peel. The finish is long, vibrant, and exquisitely balanced, blending freshness, delicacy, and vitality with refined elegance.
A rare and remarkable edition, released in 2022 in only 360 bottles, it unites the memory of time with a still-vibrant vitality, standing as a true emblem of the longevity and winemaking mastery of Charles Heidsieck.
