Les Heurtebises Magnum 2018

The Champagne Les Heurtebises by Rémy Lequeux-Mercier is a Blanc de Noirs made from 100% Meunier, sourced from the eponymous lieu-dit located in Passy-sur-Marne, on the right bank of the Vallée de la Marne. Planted in 1987, the plot enjoys a southern exposure and lies nestled between forest and river, in a natural setting of rare beauty. The clay-limestone soil, layered with sand, supports balanced grape ripening, while sustainable viticulture—free from herbicides and insecticides—preserves its vitality.

This cuvée comes exclusively from the 2018 harvest, and was vinified and aged entirely in fût de chêne using only indigenous yeasts, with no filtration or corrective interventions. An extended maturation of over 48 months on the lees and no final dosage (Brut Nature, 0 g/l) reflect the artisan approach of the vigneron and the desire to express a pure, site-driven interpretation of Meunier.

On the palate, Les Heurtebises reveals a tense, saline and iodized profile, lifted by crystalline freshness and a fine, elegant texture. A Champagne of strong character, combining aromatic breadth with stylistic precision, offering an authentic reading of its terroir.

Produced in a limited edition of just 1,071 bottles and 98 magnums.

Rémy Lequeux-Mercier

Vigneron Indépendant located in Passy-sur-Marne, a village in the heart of the Vallée de la Marne, the Lequeux-Mercier family Domaine has been producing Champagne for many generations. The owned vineyard consists of 7 hectares distributed across 25 parcels in Passy-sur-Marne, Barzy-sur-Marne, Château-Thierry and Dormans in which the 3 typical Champagne vines (Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay) are grown.

80% of the vineyards face south on clay-marly soils and are cultivated rigorously applying the principles of sustainable viticulture. This strong commitment to reducing external interventions to a minimum has the aim of promoting healthy growth of the individual vines in order to preserve the authenticity of its flavors and the specificity of the terroir.

In the cellar, the fermentation process is conducted as long as possible to ensure soft and fine aromas, malolactic fermentation is not done systematically, but depending on the potential of the wine, to preserve the original and authentic freshness of the future Champagne. After the tirage, the refinement on the yeasts takes place in the cool and shaded underground cellars of the Domaine, for a minimum of 4 years and up to 10 for the vintages.
