Ambre "La Motelle" Millésime 2018

The Champagne Ambre "La Motelle" Millésime 2018 by Solemme is a Blanc de Noirs made from 100% Meunier, sourced from a single parcel rooted in the chalky soils of Villers-aux-Nœuds, in the Montagne de Reims. This terroir, marked by freshness and minerality, gives the wine identity and precision, faithfully expressing the authenticity of the area.

The production philosophy, in harmony with the lunar cycles, aims to respect the purity of the grape and its natural balance. Vinification involves partial malolactic fermentations and no fining or filtration. This is followed by a long aging on the lees, before disgorgement carried out in line with the lunar phases, with no added dosage (Brut Nature) and no sulfites. The possible presence of tartaric crystals reflects an artisanal and respectful approach.

On the palate, Ambre "La Motelle" Millésime 2018 displays an original robe with amber and coppery reflections, reminiscent of the glow of a red moon or an antique jewel. The bouquet reveals freshness and minerality, together with fruity and gourmand notes typical of Meunier. On the palate, it shows a linear structure, fine and saline, with remarkable length, elegantly transporting you to the chalky soils of Champagne and offering a surprising sensorial journey.

The Domaine Solemme is based in Villers-aux-Nœuds, just a few kilometers south of Reims, in the heart of the Montagne de Reims. Since 1998, Olivier Langlais, the sixth generation of vignerons, has been managing the estate’s 6 hectares of vineyards divided among five Premier Cru terroirs of the Montagne de Reims and a parcel in the Vallée de l’Ardre, following an approach rooted in respect for nature and harmony between vineyard and environment.

The soils, with their remarkable geological diversity, combine chalk, clay-limestone, silt, and sand, with exposures ranging from flatlands to gentle slopes. This pedoclimatic mosaic allows the three emblematic Champagne grape varieties – Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier – to fully express their identity, giving life to cuvées distinguished by aromatic breadth, elegance, and vibrant minerality.

Faithful to a philosophy of natural winemaking, Olivier has constantly refined his vineyard and cellar practices to enhance the authenticity of his wines. Today, the Domaine welcomes the seventh generation with Clément, Olivier’s son and trained oenologist, who joins his father in a path where tradition and innovation intertwine, consolidating Solemme’s distinctive style.
