Champagne Rémi Leroy
Blanc de Quatre Cépages "Mer sur Mont" 2015
The Champagne Blanc de Quatre Cépages “Mer sur Mont” 2015 by Rémi Leroy originates in the Côte des Bar, in Meurville, from an artisanal vision that places terroir, single parcel expression, and precision at its core. The lieu-dit Mer sur Mont is one of the most distinctive vineyards of the Domaine, characterized by Kimmeridgian soils and an exposure capable of combining ripeness with tension. The decision to highlight a rare and complex blend reflects Leroy’s personal approach, aimed at deep, uncompromising interpretations of the vineyard.
This 2015 vintage edition is produced from a blend of Pinot Noir, Meunier, Chardonnay, and Pinot Blanc, the latter belonging to Champagne’s Cépages Oubliés. Vinification takes place through fermentations in both stainless steel and wood, followed by extended ageing on the fine lees to build structure and complexity. After tirage, the wine matures for more than six years on the lees and is released with zero dosage – Brut Nature, a choice that enhances the most authentic expression of the terroir.
In tasting, Blanc de Quatre Cépages “Mer sur Mont” stands out for its taut, vertical profile, shaped by pronounced mineral tension. The nose reveals notes of citrus, white flowers, white-fleshed fruit, and subtle chalky nuances, alongside hints of yeast and almond. On the palate, the structure is firm yet measured, supported by incisive freshness and an equilibrium built on precision rather than breadth. The finish is long, dry, and saline, closing with clarity and faithfully reflecting the identity of the lieu-dit.
