Franc de Pieds Millésime 2018
The Champagne Franc de Pieds by Minière is a rare and precious cuvée crafted from ungrafted vines, the so-called Francs de Pieds. The blend combines 75% Meunier grapes and 25% Chardonnay, sourced from the lieux-dits Les Fauvagnes and Les Rosières for the Meunier and Le Moineaux for the Chardonnay. An audacious and now almost vanished agronomic choice, capable of delivering a direct and authentic expression of the terroir.
This edition, Vintage 2018, is vinified in fûts de chêne, where the wine matures for eight months. After tirage, it undergoes a slow ageing on the lees for at least five years, completed by a dégorgement without final dosage, in Brut Nature style, designed to highlight purity of fruit, depth and mineral tension.
In tasting, Franc de Pieds Millésime 2018 reveals a bright golden colour and an exceptionally fine perlage. The aromatic profile recalls dried fruit, candied citrus, toasted notes and mineral nuances. On the palate it shows structure, energy and precision, with vibrant freshness and a long, saline finish of remarkable purity. Production in a limited run of 1920 bottles.
