The Champagne La Pierre aux Larrons 2016 by R.H. Coutier is an elegant Blanc de Blancs made from 100% Chardonnay, sourced from the eponymous Lieu-Dit planted in 1984 near Ambonnay, a Grand Cru village in the Montagne de Reims. This prestigious terroir, with its chalky and limestone-rich soils, imparts finesse, minerality, and remarkable aging potential to the wines.
The 2016 harvest underwent traditional pressing and vinification in oak barrels, a method that enhances aromatic structure and adds depth of flavor. The wine then matured for over 6 years on the lees, gaining complexity and roundness, before a final dosage of only 2.5 g/l, in Extra Brut style, emphasizing the purity of the fruit and the precision of the terroir.
On the palate, La Pierre aux Larrons displays a vibrant and crystalline profile: the attack is tense and mineral, enriched with citrus and floral notes, elegantly interwoven with hints of white fruit and subtle toasted nuances. Its refined structure and long persistence make this a rare “single-plot" cuvée, harmoniously combining freshness, depth, and elegance. Produced in a limited edition of just 3,000 bottles.
