Champagne Perrier-Jouët
Belle Èpoque Rosé by Mischer'Traxler 2013
The Champagne Belle Époque Rosé by Perrier-Jouët appears in this limited edition created by the Austrian designer duo Katharina Mischer and Thomas Traxler, produced in 2022 to mark the 120th anniversary of the bottle decorated by Émile Gallé, where seventy species found in the vineyards of Champagne reinterpret the emblematic Japanese anemones amid ladybirds, bees, butterflies and brightly coloured flowers. Inside it holds the surprising interpretation of Rosé created by the Maison, a rare and precious Vintage with a character that is at once delicate and sensual, declared only in exceptional years and born from the best of the harvest to express a remarkable vinosity, in perfect harmony with the passion for nature and art that has accompanied its story from the very origins.
This edition, Vintage 2013, features a blend of 50% Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir and 5% Meunier, enriched by the addition of 11% vin rouge from Vertus and Vincelles, from which the delicate rosy nuances derive. Vinification takes place at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks and continues with malolactic fermentation. After the tirage comes a long ageing on the lees of at least 6 years, completed by a final dosage in the Brut style that, allowing the generosity of the fruit to emerge, enriches the profile with balance and heightens the aromatic richness of this Champagne.
On tasting, Belle Époque Rosé 2013 stands out for its generosity, vivacity and finesse rather than lightness, showing a luminous pure pink colour crossed by orange nuances and enlivened by a fine, delicate perlage. On the nose it opens fresh and delicate, with aromas of red fruits such as raspberry and strawberry interwoven with floral hints and subtle nuances of spices and ginger. On the palate the fresh and intense attack meets a texture endowed with breadth and refinement, sustained by a mineral vein and an elegant persistence, a testament to the floral and precious style that the Maison has preserved for over two centuries.
