Champagne Perrier-Jouët
Belle Èpoque Rosé Magnum 2010
The Champagne Belle Époque Rosé by Perrier-Jouët is the surprising interpretation of Rosé created by the Maison, a rare and precious Vintage with a character that is at once delicate and sensual, produced in limited quantities and declared only in exceptional years. It stands out as a particularly sought-after Champagne because the best of the harvest is destined for this very cuvée after a rigorous selection, giving rise to a Rosé of remarkable vinosity. The Pinot Noir comes mainly from the Grand Cru terroirs of Aÿ, Mailly and Verzy and joins the Chardonnay from the finest Grand Cru of Cramant, Avize and Le Mesnil, completed by the Meunier of Dizy which brings its rounded and aromatic character, in a composition that reflects its floral and elegant style from the very origins.
This edition in Magnum format, Vintage 2010, shows a prevalence of Pinot Noir grapes, whose richness marries the floral finesse of the Chardonnay, while the delicate apricot colour is born from the addition of a small proportion of 11% vin rouge obtained through maceration. Vinification takes place at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks and continues with malolactic fermentation. After the tirage comes a long ageing on the lees of over 10 years, completed by a final dosage in the Brut style that, allowing the generosity of the fruit to emerge, enriches the profile with balance and heightens the aromatic richness of this Champagne.
On tasting, Belle Époque Rosé Magnum 2010 stands out for its vinosity, generosity and refinement rather than lightness, showing a pale apricot colour crossed by luminous highlights and enlivened by a fine, steady perlage. On the nose it opens fragrant and pronounced, with aromas of white flowers and wild strawberries interwoven with hints of small red fruits and subtle nuances of hazelnut, honey and brioche. On the palate the fresh and lively attack meets a texture endowed with structure and breadth, sustained by a long and enveloping persistence, consistent with the floral refinement that has always been the stylistic signature of the Maison.
